divorce

so i just got done reading Fireproof. i'd already seen the movie and was excited to read the book. it was really good. very similar to the movie but still a must read for anyone who is serious about marriage and having a Godly marriage. the main message in it is that you never leave your partner especially during a fire. every couple is going to have rough times but that's not an excuse to get out. another point is that marriages aren't fireproof. like i just said, every married couple will experience trials but they have to work them out, not give up.
one day while i was in hawaii we did devotions in groups then later we talked about what we'd read and learned. so some of the boys had read all of Malachi and the main thing they got out of it was in Malachi 2:16 where Jesus says "I hate divorce." i don't think any of us really knew that it actually said that in the Bible. we knew that there were only a few conditions for divorce but not that it says that God hates divorce. that really hit hard for them. tj and ryans mom has been married twice, they have older siblings who are their half siblings from their moms first marriage and cramers parents got divorced and his dad remarried. they have all seen what divorce does to a family. when tj was telling us about what they read he said that he will go into marriage with the mind set that divorce is not an option. i think that's how everyone should go into marriage. that no matter what, we understand that marriages aren't fireproof but we will never leave our partner. then a few days later we were talking about marriage and ryan said that he is gonna get his wedding ring tattooed on his finger, that way he will always remember that marriage is permanent and divorce won't be an option for him.
i didn't grow up in a broken home and but i have seen the effects of divorce all around me. and i'm right with God, i hate divorce. i am going to make sure that i am always right with God and seeking His will for my life because i never want to be in a position where my husband and i are talking about getting a divorce. i never want that conversation to come up where divorce is one of the answers. it's just wrong. obviously there are certain circumstances where it even says in the Bible that divorce is acceptable, but those things are very limited. and as long as my husband and i continue to seek God's will and have a relationship with him, divorce should never be an option.
